Custom Blending was founded in 1984 by John and Sally Conway with one employee. They saw a niche for high quality custom seasonings and spice blends; the Conways adventure began. John said, “I always have loved the food industry because of the quality of people it attracts. My fondest memories are of the talented, dedicated employees I worked with and the creative, hardworking customers we served. It was an amazing ride.”
Custom Blending purchased the Rodelle vanilla extract brand; the vanilla extract grew and soon became their focus. The company’s name was changed to Rodelle. Over the years, the spice business remained the core of Custom Blending.
With a growing focus on vanilla extract and retail products, Tom and Kristie Cotter purchased Custom Blending from Rodelle in February 2016. Their goal is to honor the Lord with the business and carry on John and Sally’s legacy of high quality products, great customer service, and a great place to work.
Tom brings 25 years of food production experience including roles in materials management, production management, plant management, as well as being an SQF (Safe Quality Food) practitioner. In 2011, the facility he managed won the SQF Manufacturer of the Year Award. Kristie brings sales and marketing experience from the staffing and mortgage industries; she holds a Master's Degree in counseling.
